Gelatin Shooters...


The concept of Gelatin Shooters is to substitute alcohol for a water portion of a recipe for flavored gelatin. The shooters, served in small plastic or paper cups or glass shotglasses, are swizzled with a toothpick or stirrer to liquefy them a bit before drinking.

Suggested proportions for gelatin shooters:

Large box of Jell-O,   2 cups hot water, 1 /2 cup cold water,  1/2cup alcohol,
(Vary alcohol amounts: 1/2 cup for 40-proof alcohol, 1/4 cup for 80-proof. )

Suggested preparation for gelatin shooters:

Place 3 oz bathroom size paper cups, plastic pill cups or small glass glasses with stems in a cake pan.
Prepare gelatin according to recipe.
Let the gelatin/alcohol liquid cool to room temperature, then pour about 2 ounces into each cup/glass.
This will fill them about 2/3 full (makes about 6-8)
Place pan of shooters in refrigerator to set.

    Note: The sugar free gelatin is easier to use, easier to dissolve.

Some gelatin flavors go better with some liquors. The fun is in the experimentation and creation.

Light rum

13. "Fuzzy Navel"= Orange Jell-O. 1 1/3cup Peach Schnapps
        Stirrer: Maraschino cherry on toothpick.

14. "Mai Tai" = Mixed Fruit Jell-O or "Tropical Punch" Jell-O, 1/2 cup dark rum
        Stirrer: Pineapple chunk on toothpick

15. "Beri-Beri" = Berry Blue Jell-O. 1 cup Strawberry Schnapps
        Stirrer: Brandied cherry on toothpick.

16. "Melancholy Baby"= Watermelon Jell-O. 1 cup Melon Liqueur
Stirrer: Small cantaloupe piece on toothpick

17. "Bouncy Beer Belts"= Strawberry Jell-O. 2 cups malt liquor
Stirrer: Pretzel sticks.

18. "Apricot Sours" = Lemon Jell-O,. 1/2 cup Apricot Brandy
Stirrer: Orange piece on toothpick

19. "Strawberry Daiquiri"= Strawberry Jell-O, 1/3 cup light rum, 1/6 cup raspberry liqueur
Stirrer: Blueberry on toothpick

20. "Tequila Sunrise" = Orange Jell-O, 2 cups tequila, touch of grenadine
Stirrer: Small piece of lime, rolled in salt on toothpick

21. Whisky Sour=Lemon Jell-O, ½ cup whiskey,
Stirrer: Orange piece on a toothpick

22. "Island Pineapple Rum"=Pineapple-Orange, ½ cup dark rum,
Stirrer:Pineapple on a toothpick

23. "The Czar"=Lemon Jell-O, 1 cup consommé (bring to a boil, cool and chill), 1 cup vodka.  Top with dollop of sour cream, spot of caviar.
Stirrer: Cocktail onion on toothpick.

24. "The Factory Whistle"=Blueberry Jell-O, ½ cup vodka, ½ cup blueberry schnapps
Stirrer:Swizzle with a whistle on top. (See Resources, #___)

25. "M.A.S.H. Mess"=Lime Jell-O, ½ cup dark rum, ½ cup blackberry brandy
Stirrer:Martini olive on a popsicle (tongue depressor-type) stick.
